Promoting College, Career Readiness and Access for Wayne County

Wayne County College Access Network (WCCAN) is a collaborative community network dedicated to increasing the college attainment rate of Wayne County Michigan. Our mission is to increase college and post secondary readiness, participation, and completion. Our network includes representatives from education, higher education, business, nonprofit, philanthrophy, and government stakeholders. WCCAN targets our support and services to low-income, communities of color, and first-generation students. Help us create a college- going culture!

Education is an investment in the future of the individual, our community, our economy, and our nation.

Our Values:

College is Post Secondary Education: WCCAN uses the term "college" to refer to the attainment of valuable post-secondary credentials beyond high school, including professional/technical certificates and academic degrees.

College is a necessity: Post-secondary education is a prerequisite to success in a knowledge-based economy.

College is for everyone: WCCAN is committed to closing the gaps in post-secondary educational attainment among low-income, students of color, and first generation college students.

College is a Public Good: Post-secondary educational opportunity and attainment are critical to a just and equitable society, strong economy, and healthy communities.

How will we accomplish our Vision, Mission, and Goals?

  • Build a college-going culture in our schools and community.
  • Facilitate systems that support student navigation to pursue and succeed in post-secondary education
  • Advocate for comprehensive system of community services and activities that improve access to post-secondary opportunities for students and adult learners.
