On January 15 and 22, employers throughout the community assembled at the Livonia Service Center. This gathering was the result of a cooperative effort by the Michigan Works! Service Center affiliates; Ross Learning, Michigan Rehabilitation Services (MRS), Veteran Administration, and Employment Services to reintroduce the center to employers and to compare notes and examine how the organizations can enhance services for the existing workforce and to those currently seeking employment.

Emerald Fuller, employer account representative of Ross, presided over the meetings, first acknowledging guests and staff and later escorting the visiting employers throughout the facility. Dorian Marshall, Ross representative, discussed SEMCA services and the benefits of allowing the center staff to assist in meeting their very challenging human resource requirements. “We can gather, sort, screen and forward for your review those applicants that best meet your needs, all at no cost to you,” said Marshall.

Dan Bush, Veteran Affairs specialist of Ross, underscored the importance of giving our country’s heroes priority when seeking well qualified applicants. Jacqueline Jones of MRS expressed that there are many individuals with disabilities, who are extremely capable and would be dedicated and viable employees. Craig Badynee, employment services coordinator, reiterated that the Michigan Talent Bank was at their disposal to both input job descriptions and review resumes that matched their employment need. “We currently average about 150 job seekers a day and existing resumes are updated monthly.” said Badynee

Tracie Jennings, Michigan Rehabilitation placement specialist, announced upcoming job fairs and activities at the Center and thanked the employers for their participation. Among those present included Jacobsen Industries, AAA Life, UPS, Tyndell Photography, The Lutheran Home, International Hospital Group, Concord EMS, Robert Half International, Standard Federal Bank, Dearborn Federal Credit Union (DFCU) and several staffing agencies.
