Angela Hunzicker was referred to Michigan Works! in October 1998. She was a single mother receiving assistance from the Family Independence Agency. Angela wanted to provide for her son and was dedicated to her dream of finding employment that would allow her to be self sufficient.

Angela was 19 years old, so she qualified for the youth internship program. During her internship, Angela showed great initiative and follow up skills. She expressed an interest in the clerical field. Her youth internship gave her on the job computer training. |

Angela built on her customer service skills that she had gained at a previous job. Her hard work soon paid off when she was offered a job at a local computer service firm as an office assistant. At her new job Angela learned telephone skills, office procedures, and new computer skills. |

Even though Angela now had a good job, she wanted to forward her career with a more challenging position. With the continued help of Jeri Dushane (her job developer at MCETD), Angela found a new job in September 1999. Angela interviewed and was hired as a clerk at La-Z-Boy, Inc. Angela now holds a full time position at La-Z-Boy which offers a full medical benefits package for her and her son. |

| Angela continues to prosper, as of December 2000, Angela has been promoted to the position of Clerk Support II at La-Z-Boy! She is now eligible for a pension, stock options, and tuition reimbursement. Angela loves La-Z-Boy and says that it is the best job she has ever had! |
