The core of her presentation focused on the importance of coordination of care with the client’s primary care physician. Dr. Reid expressed how treating the client in all aspects of the client’s needs is very important to client recovery. Areas discussed included clients with co-occurring diagnoses (mental health and substance abuse), coordinating with the primary care physician, coordinating with other treatment facilities in an effort to address all of the client’s needs and referring the client appropriately. Another area was the importance of accurate and concise documentation so that all who participate in the client’s treatment can be knowledgeable of all aspects of care. Dr. Reid’s presentation was favorably accepted by the SEMCA providers. Many providers asked questions and were excited about having this information to pass on to staff. |
