The Partnership Agreement
Committing to the Partnerships
It was clear that a partnership agreement would be needed to spell out each partner’s responsibilities as well as procedures for disputes etc. The following agreement was adapted from the model shared by Traverse City to meet the needs of this particular model.

The intent of the agreement was to cover the areas needed and provide protections to all involved, but to do so in language that was as clear as possible so that no one involved would feel that the document was confusing or overly complex.

As soon as the partners were chosen the pilot sites were given the agreement so that they, any owners or board involved would have plenty of time to review the document. It did take longer than expected to get all agreements signed due to the fact that two of the partners were from national chains and the review process was neither local nor quick.
