Recruiting Potential Partners
Creating Interest
The project staff and Implementation Team set out to develop a pool of potential partners. The intention was to create high quality partnerships that would provide incentives to the partners to become involved and willing to go through the process while determining which sites might be the best match with Head Start.

The mentoring team visited every center in the target cities to explain the initiative. They left a brochure in case the center director had an owner or board that the information had to be shared with.

All received invitations to attend Making the Connection, a half day event planned with an overview of the concept, breakout sessions to discuss both Head Start program specific information and the specifics of the incentives that would be offered to the centers. The event ended with a Head Start staff person and a center director representing a current partnership in another area of the state giving their perspectives on the benefits of their partnering along with some honest information on some of the adjustments they each had made to create a win-win for all involved.

After the event, the directors were asked to indicate their interest in pursuing the next steps toward possible partnership. If they were interested but needed a longer time period to receive approval to proceed we asked that that be communicated to us.
