Open for Business In Bedford

CEO, Tim Lake, with the Monroe County Business Development Corporation contacted Steve Mihalec, Business Services Representative, with Michigan Works Monroe Service Center, regarding a logistics company by the name of syncreon, coming into the Monroe County area. Mihalec contacted syncreon Human Resource Manager, Patty Smith, to see what kind of business services Michigan Works! Monroe Service Center could provide to assist the company with their expansion plans and their hiring needs for new positions at their new Temperance location. Syncreon indicated they had job openings for 34 Machine Operators, 18 Forklift Operators and 4 Class A Truck Drivers. With a facility of approximately 300,000 square feet, syncreon said this would only be the beginning of their hiring needs.

"I was blown away with how professional your team was from start to finish. The turnout was a huge success." --Bedford Township Supervisor Pirrone

On October 25, 2017, Michigan Works! Monroe Service Center partnered with Bedford Township Deputy Supervisor, Al Prieur and Bedford Township Supervisor, Paul Pirrone to host a hiring event for syncreon at the Bedford Township Government Center. The second floor of the Government Center building was very appropriate for the event as it offered a large space for syncreon representatives to conduct one-on-one interviews with job seekers. Considering that syncreon would be located in Temperance, using the Bedford Government Center for the hiring event proved to be convenient for Temperance residents to attend the event and meet with this new neighbor company. Michigan Works! BSR’s, Steve Mihalec and Julie Smith, along with Supervisor Pirrone and Deputy Supervisor Prieur helped syncreon have a very successful hiring event. 70 applicants attended the three hour event to complete job applications and meet with syncreon’s human resource staff. Supervisor Pirrone stated, “I am thankful for you, Steve. You are so fun to work with and good at your job. I was blown away with how professional your team was from start to finish. The turnout was a huge success”.

In conclusion, there is a great deal of partnerships and professional relationships that were established throughout the planning of this hiring event. 60 people have already been hired by syncreon and they are looking to hire 140 more. Michigan Works! Monroe Service Center would like to welcome syncreon to Monroe County and wish the company great success in the future.
