Call Back System for Limited Claims Issues

In an effort to assist the Unemployment Insurance Agency with the never before seen demand for service, a select few of the Michigan Works! staff have been trained to assist with some of the simpler issues that are stopping Michiganders from receiving their unemployment benefits.

These staff can help with access issues like being locked out of MILogin or MiWAM and some have received further training to assist with a limited number of claims issues. Last week some were trained to assist with ID verification in response to the nationwide fraud problem that has hit many systems across the county.

Each Michigan Works! is doing their best to maximize their resources to assist. SEMCA Michigan Works! has initiated a call back system to collect names and phone numbers of people seeking help, then returning calls in the order they were received. 

WHAT WE CAN DO TO HELP

  • Your BEST OPTION is reach out to UIA via your MiWAM Account
  • SECOND OPTION option is to call 866.500.0017
  • Your THIRD OPTION is to call 800.285.WORKS (9675)
    • If it is something we can help with, you will be placed on the call back list
    • If it is not something within our power to assist with, you will be referred to MiWAM and 866.500.0017

Once you are on the call back list, we will get back to you as soon as possible. Calling us again does not do anything to speed up the process and in fact slows it as we allocate resources to taking calls instead of making call backs. Calling directly to the American Job Center or to a staff number also takes away from the resources that can return calls. 

Our system does not have the ability to transfer your call to UIA. Our system does not have the ability to immediately help a caller live on demand. We are working exclusively off a call back list.

WE WILL RETURN YOUR CALL

Once you are on the call back list, we will get back to you as soon as possible. Calling again will not speed up the process and in fact slows it as we allocate resources to taking calls instead of making call backs.

Due to a surge in demand, our call back list has 3,700 records that need attention. We are working as diligently as possible to get back to you. We understand your frustration and are doing everything we can to assist.
